It is easy to view contemporary society as a chaotic milieu of optimism and distress, a world spinning in faster tenets of flux with old systems stalling and new dynamics being engaged. Somehow thee world seems to have become simultaneously larger and smaller at the same time and with this comes a sense of displacement on an individual but also a broader social scale.
With social media and celebrity expectation I sense people have become confused by and dissatisfied with, their role in life. Communities have also fragmented as suburbs grow, shops and entertainment moves from traditional centres and meeting grounds to abstract man-made function zones on the peripheries of nowhere city. There is a new fluidity to society which can be a hugely positive thing but can also leave people behind, wandering around in the shadows.
