Oil on Canvas-diptych
60'' x 80'' x 1.5''
The precursor for the ‘Moral Expressionism’ series comes this weird medley of geometric shape and surrealist, figurative form. Presented at the recent ‘Age of the People with their Heads in Boxes’ exhibition this work delves deep into the juxtapositions of contemporary society and questions the validity of where we are going as a race. At the centre of the diptych is a black female figure presented with a featureless face, her head in a box. This emblem of Mother Earth is contained and melancholic; a slave to the actions of withered, violent man who’s exponential growth is causing global destabilisation, mass extinction and the forced breakdown of species and ecosystems.
