In the Wake of Terror
Thomas created this series of paintings in a response to the ongoing conflict in Syria and across the Middle East, the ensuing migrant crisis and the spread of terrorist attacks across the European continent.
On a daily basis we are bombarded with images of war, destruction and devastation and it frequently feels impossible to digest everything that is happening in the world.
This series of work is Thomas attempt to understand why the world is at war, to document the victims of conflict and to suggest that brotherhood, sisterhood and understanding different cultures and ways of life can overcome conflict.
War is hell and we are extremely fortunate that we live in a democratic society but we have a responsibility to help and welcome those who are not so fortunate. In the sunshine we all cast the same shadows.
